  • Does VRP run on a Mac?
    Although Vacation Rent Pro is designed to run under the Windows operating system, some of our customers are using it on Macintosh computers. In order to run VRP on a Mac, you will need to have the latest Mac OS X Leopard, which allows you to install and run Windows using the included Bootcamp utility.   • Can I access my data from remote locations?
    Vacation Rent Pro can be accessed from remote locations using any of the third-party products mentioned below.  However, it is designed as a "Desktop" application, not a Web-based application, for several reasons:  Web-based applications usually require an ongoing monthly service fee, thereby increasing your costs.  Also, your confidential data must be trusted with one or more third parties and their security practices and technology.  Web-based applications usually have a slower response time and are more linear than Desktop applications due to the remote connection and limitations of the browser.  Also, if for any reason you are unable to access the internet, or the site is temporarily down, you will not be able to access your data, thereby bringing your business to a standstill, (not to mention if the company goes out of business).

    Most importantly, Vacation Rent Pro provides a rich feature-set not found in many web-based and other applications costing much more.  It provides the ability to view multiple types of information simultaneously.  It provides quick access to your information with immediate startup and response time.  It provides integration with Outlook Calendar, QuickBooks, Quicken and your email programs.  It optionally interfaces with Webervations.com for Online Bookings and Availabilities.  It provides instant Filtering and Reporting capabilities with the option to export to many different formats.  It provides a unique feature for responding to Inquiries and quickly creating Bookings from any email program you use.   Along with many other powerful features.

    Vacation Rent Pro runs on your Desktop or local Network, the same as QuickBooks and other similar database applications, allowing you to control the security and backup schedule of your data.  Installing it on a Notebook computer also allows you to use it when you're away from an internet connection.  Vacation Rent Pro optionally synchronizes Bookings with Outlook Calendar and most mobile phones/PDA's.  It also creates and posts Web pages to your own web site, such as: Availability Calendars, Cleaning Schedules, Property pages, Property Group pages and various Reports.  It also provides the ability to Backup and Restore your data to your own web site for off-site backup requirements, or transferring your data to a remote computer.

    Accessing Vacation Rent Pro remotely:
    If you need to access Vacation Rent Pro from remote locations through the Internet, you can do so using third-party products such as: LogMeIn-Free, LogMeIn-Pro, GoToMyPC, RealVNC, TightVNC, Citrix and any other products using a secure VPN connection which allow you to access your PC or Network through the Internet.

    In addition, you can store Vacation Rent Pro's database on a portable USB device or memory card so that you can take your data with you and use the program and data on different computers which are not connected.
     

  • What type of support can I expect?
    We are happy to answer short questions free of charge.  Usually, these result in directing people to the Help document in the software.  If you feel you need more help, and the calls will extend beyond 15 minutes, we ask that you purchase a 1-hour support ($40) option on the Purchase page.  We put a lot of effort into making the software as easy and intuitive as possible, while providing a wide range of features and full documentation.  Usually, once people start using the basic features and get familiar with searching for keywords in the Help document, they are off and running on their own.

  • What are your hours of support?
    We are available 7 days a week, usually from 7am to 9pm, Hawaii time.  You can email or call us anytime.  If we cannot answer immediately we will get back to your very soon.  Please note, if your questions are many or are more open-ended, we prefer that you call us, as it is easier to answer these types of questions with a phone call.

  • Can I upgrade my license (for additional properties or users) in the future?
    Yes, we do not charge any additional fee for doing so.  Simply purchase the price difference for the new license on the Purchase page.

  • How does Vacation Rent Pro compare to other VR software?
    As far as a feature for feature comparison, that is a difficult task, as many software vendors do not advertise their price nor provide an evaluation easily.  We strongly believe that Vacation Rent Pro offers the best VR software with the widest range of features, for the absolute best price.  Our customers agree, and we continually receive praise and Compliments from people who have used other VR solutions in the past.  VRP is a mature product and was first introduced in January, 2006.  Since that time, we have incorporated a wide range of features for special needs of all types of VR management requirements, (see the Updates page).  We have had many customers start using VRP after having spent a lot of money and time with other software vendors, and are thrilled to have found us.  We openly list all of the features, price options, documentation, and provide a free trial download without any questions asked.  We think this is the way software ought to be.  You should be able to see exactly what you're getting and for how much, right up front.  In the end, it all depends on how the software looks and feels to you and the features it provides.  We are confident in our product, and we openly invite you to see for yourself how Vacation Rent Pro can work for you.

  • Are there any recurring charges?
    No!  Once you purchase a license, there are no recurring charges, other than after the first year you may optionally choose to continue to receive new updates to the software.  See below.

  • What is the $89 annual updates renewal option?
    The software license includes one full year of free updates.  If, after the first year you wish to continue to receive the latest updates of VRP, you can optionally purchase an additional 1 year of updates for $89 from the Purchase page.  Please note, this is the current renewal price (and has been for over a year), however it is subject to change.

  • How much does it cost for the Online Bookings option through Webervations?
    One of the reasons we decided to build an optional interface with Webervations.com is because they offer the absolute best price available for providing online bookings capability.  As of April, 2008 they charge $80 per year, which can include multiple properties.  Other sites we looked at charge an average of $29 per "month" for "each" property.  Please check the Webervations website for their current pricing.
